Environment

The Orange Park Woman’s Club Environment Community Service Program encourages awareness of our natural resources and caring for the world around us. It offers information and ideas to promote environmental appreciation and protection. Work to preserve, maintain, and restore our natural resources; protect habitats for plants and animals; and develop sustainable habits.

Environmental education; care for our air, land, and water; recycling; litter cleanup; partnerships with community groups, schools, and children; support of wildlife; energy conservation; tree planting; and beautification – this is what the Environment Community Service Program is all about.

Orange Park Woman’s Club members work together to become stewards of the environment, by designing and supporting conservation activities in the local communities.

Updates:

We hope everyone enjoyed their January goodie made from recycled greeting cards.

On January 16th and 22nd we met and made coin purses and business card/gum/key chains holders from toilet tissue holders. We will have some of these at the February 1st general meeting.  Be sure you get one.

In February, we will be making Easter baskets from gallon milk jugs, Bring your scissors and glue guns. Light refreshments will be served. Your creation is only limited by your imagination. If you enjoy arts and crafts, then here is something else for you to enjoy.

We continue to walk Kingsley Avenue from Highway 17 to River Road picking up litter. Three days per week. Contact us for additional information, days, and time.

This month, we are collecting gallon milk jugs, paint, mod podge, glue, unused wrapping paper or tissue paper, ribbon, material, yarn, rick rack, ribbon, and other sewing notions, empty boxes (cereal, cookies, rice, etc.), old magazines, soup and cat food cans, and any small plastic containers for our projects for the next few months. We are also collecting used towels and blankets for the animal shelter.

See you at the meeting and thanks for your assistance in gathering items to recycle and repurpose.
